In the past, when I’ve considered what to wear for Valentine’s Day, I have always gravitated toward a dress. Most often, it’s a LBD as well. This year, I’ve had a change of heart (pun!) and I’m going for a flashy-er look. This champagne colored, sequined, peplum top just screamed at me late this past year. It’s a top that I have found difficult to come up with an excuse to wear, because it’s just so attention grabbing. However, I very much view Valentine’s Day as the excuse of all excuses for going a little bigger and brighter than I’m used to. We’ll see what hubs thinks in a few weeks!!
Generally, in real life, I like to keep my outfits to one or two statement pieces at a time. But, then, there are those days where you think, “Nah, I’m doing this thing today”… and get dressed with the intention of looking full-on trendy and fashion-forward. Over-the-knee boots: check; Cut-out dress: check; Large-frame sunglasses: check. Pink statement coat: check. Why not add a bow on your waist for good measure? You know… While we’re at it. I’ve really enjoyed pulling out my boots and coats this winter. We’ve had unusually warm weather, up until this point, so now that it’s cold enough for suede otk boots, and pink coats, I’m in! Come on Winter! Let’s do this.
P.S. In case you missed it in the outfit description; I thrifted this dress! Totally makes my day.
Oh man. Hunter Boots. Enough said? Not quite, but just about! Of all my purchases from 2015, these make the top 5. There’s just something so great about such a practical and versatile investment. While I like all the colors they come in, red just screamed at me. I love the pop they give to any outfits they’re styled with!
This look, in particular, is a favorite of mine for this reason. I’m also such a fan of mixing patterns and this gorgeous scarf looks like it was made to be worn with some stripes!
